an excuse and a shop update

so here is my excuse for being such a slacker for a few weeks! cutest excuse ever ;) my sister had a baby and i went home for a bit, and then we had a house guest and then jon (my photographer by default) went to NYC and then all of a sudden three weeks went by!

here's a sneak peak at a few new and awesome things that will be making their way into the shop today and tomorrow. let me know if there is something you can't live without!

what's better than a polka dot dress?? 

a pink and blue and black and white polka dot dress with ruffle sleeves!!

i know i claimed that the floral dress from my previous post was my new favorite....but now i think maybe THIS is my new favorite. can you have more than one favorite? and shouldn't our closet be full of favorites? i think yes. which motivated me to got through my closet and pick out some not so favorite things to donate the next time i go a-thriftin'. which is good for many reasons:
1)i have proven that i am not a hoarder.
2)i swear donating nice stuff increases my thrift-luck.
3)it supports a good cause, and blah blah blah.
4)the tax credit :)

vintage happens

phew-what a weekend!! we had four friends visit over the last five days and had so much fun, and ate so much food, and i bought so much vintage. i'm exhausted! my little mitts were so full of iced coffee and bags of dresses that i hardly took any pics. but i took a few random shots to share. above, possibly my new favorite dress which i bought on thursday and liked it so much that i washed it right away and wore it on saturday, and then didn't take any pictures of me wearing it :)

 the cutest little present that my friend embroidered for us! i keep looking at it and grinning.

 

a little sneak peek of the dresses i picked up for the shop. i wasn't planning on 'work shopping', but i just kept happening upon gorgeous things! what's a girl to do?!

we went to a huge/awesome western store on saturday, love that sign! they had rows and rows and rows of boots. how is it that i have survived 30 years without pink cowboy boots?

 

fooooood!!! we ate so much food. and it was all ridiculously delicious. 

and my silly boys, cuddling on the floor. doesn't look so comfy to me...

everything's better with a 40

another trip downtown for a free concert at millennium park. this time with booze! and food! and friends! much better...lesson learned.

this dress is nice and light, which is good for the heat, but not so good for handling giant gusts of wind, so i wore leggings and just folded them up above my knees. always classy. i love the big collar on this-it's like it was made to put pins on it. these little bears are my faaaaavorite (i say that about everything though don't i?) they were gifts from jon, i have two in bright pink and two in pale pink. and i'm not the only one who accessorized with pink.......

definitely one of my favorite yarn bomb sitings so far :)  and here is a silly beast. just because.

extra crispy, extra colorful

 i did not set out to make such a colorful ensemble, but i'm enjoying the outcome anyways. i also put too much product in my hair this morning. you know what annoys me? using the word product.

looove this necklace and this polka dot top-these are old thrifted stand-bys. toss in a blue sweater and thrifted green loafers and you get a big pile of brightness!

an impromptu trip to the park on saturday night for the free concert series. next time we will be more prepared and bring food. and booze. and bug spray.

i think this part of the park was made for tourists to take pictures. there was an actual line of people waiting for me to move. which makes me feel weird. and look weird too apparently :)
